Tanzania is a lively mixture of culture, religion and cuisine, with more than 51 million people and 120 different tribes. During this cultural safari you meet several different tribes and learn about their fascinating culture from first hand. An impressive private cultural safari, full of nature, wildlife, culture and traditions.


Sample itinerary: Cultural Safari 11-days


Day 1     Arrival Tanzania

Arrival in the morning and drive to West Kilimanjaro (1 hour) where you meet the Maasai who live in this area and run your lodge. In this place you can learn about the Maasai culture, their cultural traditions, social habits and how they use the local plants for medicines.

Day 2     Kilimanjaro
Today you can choose to do an activity, for instance: beekeeping or a walk to the summit of Makuru Hill where you have lunch or see how Maasai woman make jewelry. Walk back to the lodge while you see a diversity of birds and relax at the poolside.

Day 3     Tarangire
Drive to Tarangire National Park for a full day game drive with packed lunch. Overnight at a luxury tented camp.

Day 4     Tarangire
Early morning game drive in another part of Tarangire. Return for a hot lunch to the camp and have a rest and swim in the afternoon. You can also join a Maasai guide and do an interesting walk at the end of the afternoon through the concession area. Overnight at the same tented camp.

Day 5     Mto wa Mbu, Karatu
Leave in the morning to the village of Mto wa Mbu at the Great Rift Valley for a mountain bike tour, a local Swahili lunch and a stroll through the village. Arrive in the early afternoon in Karatu to relax and have a nice swim.

Day 6     Serengeti
Drive to Serengeti National Park, via the Ngorongoro Conservation Area. Your game drive starts after Naabi Gate, where you have lunch. Enjoy wildlife while you drive to your luxury tented camp.

Day 7     Serengeti
Early morning game drive. Return to the camp for a delicious hot lunch. Enjoy the scenery of this area and go on another game drive in the afternoon. Return to the camp for a cold sun downer around the campfire. Overnight at the same tented camp.

Day 8     Ngorongoro Crater
Drive to the Ngorongoro Crater and descend into the Crater for a game drive. In the afternoon you start your ascend out of the Crater and drive to your lodge in Karatu.

Day 9   Lake Eyasi
Drive to Lake Eyasi to meet the Hadzabe and Datoga people, who live in this area. The Datoga people are pastoralists and live of their cattle and are excellent black smiths. The Hadzabe are hunters and gatherers. Guides will join you and explain their social structure, how they produce their own medicine and if you like you can join them on their hunt. Overnight at the same Lodge in Karatu.

Day 10   Arusha or airport
Transfer to Arusha or Kilimanjaro Airport.
