Depart early in the morning from Arusha to the Ngorongoro Conservation Area. Together with a ranger, Maasai porters and donkeys you will climb the rim of the Olmoti Crater. The view at this crater edge is truely impressive. After this we take you to the Empakai Crater for dinner and overnight at the special campsite along the rim.

Today you hike down into the Empakai Crater. One third of the crater bottom is coverd by the Empakai Lake. This soda lake is an important source for flamingos, which you can observe throughout the year. After lunch you will have another hike along the rim. Dinner and overnight at the same campsite along the rim.

Day 3   Acacia Camp
Trek 15 km from the Empakai via Nayobi (Maasai village) to the Acacia Camp. The trek leaves the Ngorongoro Crater Conservation Area and the landscape becomes drier and warmer. Dinner and overnight at the Acacia Camp.

Day 4    Engare Sero
Walk today 20 km from Acacia Camp to Engare Sero, on the southern shore of Lake Natron. The track goes mainly downhill.  During this trek you will have great views of Lake Natron and the Rift Valley. Dinner and overnight will be at a private campsite in the village of Engare Sero or at Lake Natron Tented Camp.

Day 5    Lake Natron
This last day you visit the waterfalls of Gorge for a swim and Lake Natron itself  to see the thousands of flamingos breeding here. After lunch the driver will bring you back to Arusha.
