Swahili Coast

Quiet unexplored area

Tanzania’s Swahili Coast is often overlooked as most of the visitors go to the more famous Zanzibar Archipelago. But the mainland coast hides some great sandy beaches that are more deserted and untouched than the popular island Zanzibar. The beaches start from Tanga in the north to Mtwara in the south. Popular places on the mainland can be found in the coastal towns Tanga, Pangani, Bagamoyo or Kilwa. Offering laid-back tranquillity and great value for money for those who like to enjoy tropical beach life and the Swahili culture in a more quiet and unexplored area. The Swahili Coast offers a wonderful mix of history, wildlife in Saadani National Park and the clear waters of the Indian Ocean, wonderful for diving and snorkeling, dhow sailing and fishing.
